DESCRIPTION / EVENT OVERVIEW:

KayJay 5/10K & 1 Mile walk - a mostly flat with smooth, slow grade hills starting and finishing on Railroad Ave, adjacent to Wisconsin Industrial Sand Transfer Station.  RAIN OR SHINE!

PROPOSED DATE & TIME PERIOD:

Date: September 13th, 2014                    

Time Period:  9–9:55 am      (Registration)

                      10:00 am       (Start of 5K and 1 Mile walk)

                      12:00 pm       (End of walk/run)

                      12:30 pm       (Award Medals and prizes) 

 

THE COURSE:

Proposed Start/Finish line will commence on Railroad Ave, adjacent East Sand Transfer Station driveway. 

1 Mile Walk:

1 mile walk participants will walk West on West Railroad Avenue, then turn right on Bridge Street, and continue North as Bridge Street becomes 490th Street, and continue North as 490th becomes Park Road, until 1 mile walk participants reach halfway point and turn around and begin return trip back through aforementioned roads to previously proposed finish line

5K Run: (Out and back)

5K participants will run West on West Railroad Avenue, then turn right on Bridge Street, and continue North as Bridge Street becomes 490th Street, and continue North as 490th becomes Park Road, and continue North on Park Road, then turn left on 1050th Ave and head West until participants reach halfway point and turn around and begin return trip back through aforementioned roads to previously proposed finish line. 

STAGING / REGISTRATION AREA:

BENEFACTOR:

All proceeds of event will benefit Dup15q Alliance, http://www.idic15.org/, a support community for families, like ours, with children affected by Chromosome 15q duplication syndrome. 

ECONOMIC IMPACT:

DJ NODD and the Ebensperger’s live in Wheeler and look forward to growing this event for the Wheeler/Hay River community.  After our inaugural event (2011), we plan to attract more participants from outside our community, which will create further benefit to local businesses in the Wheeler/Hay River area.

We expect to draw 50+ participants in 2014 and grow that participation over the subsequent years based on the success of our overall management and promotion of the event.

We anticipate adjusting the event to accommodate growth and look forward to making a significant, positive impact on the businesses and overall community in Wheeler. 

APPROX. NUMBER OF PERSONS ATTENDING EVENT:

For the annual event in 2014,we expect 70+ participants, as well as 50+ spectators and volunteers. 

SPECIFIC SERVICES REQUESTED OF THE TOWN:

Traffic control and use of streets within Wheeler/Hay River.  We are open to suggestions and modifications of our attached course proposal and look forward to creating a route that maximizes the value of this event to the community. 

FOOD AND BEVERAGES:

We plan on supplying fresh cut oranges, bananas, bagels sticks and bottled water to participants. 

CLOSING:

Our hopes is that this event will become a landmark event for recreational runners and fitness enthusiasts and will bring avid sports fans to Wheeler/Hay River area in late September, year after year.  We look forward to creating an experience that compliments the goals of our community and represents our collective lifestyle.
